Miss Burgess was my fifth-grade teacher back in 1991, and is the person I think of when asked: "who made the biggest mark on you during your school years?" I remember students scoffing at our daily piano singalongs, but by the end of the year those same students sang out with gusto. I loved reading the poem "The Congo," dramatically, watching her click around in those tall heels (she had EVERY COLOR), and wished I could have huge earrings just like hers. (She eventually convinced my mom to let me wear the big hoops, haha) She was a fantastic teacher, and one of the reasons I became a music teacher myself. What a forward-thinking, empathetic, and light-hearted human being and teacher she was. Rest in peace, Miss B.

Crystal and I met when we started the fifth grade at the Amherst Brick School. We were close friends and graduated from Milford High. Her career was teaching, mine was nursing. I phoned her often and we shared many memories.
Before after school jobs, I rode my bike down from Ponemah and spent many happy hours at the Burgess house.' I was always glad to see the Jack O'Lantern
roller skating rink in sight. I was almost there!
Gary and Daniel, I will always cherish my dear friend, Crystal and her family. God bless all.
Love from Glenna
I remember frequent bicycle rides to her home from Ponemah where I lived. Rte 101 A was all woods until I spotted the old Jack O'Lantern Roller Skating Rink. I was then near my friend's and fun.

For many years Crystal and my sister were best friends and we rode the school bus to Amherst and then the bus that took us to Milford High. I worked At
Clair's Fine Foods with Gary. My love and prayers to all of her family. Janet Rooney Collins

Miss B was my 4th grade teacher and I student taught with her many years later. She was the BEST and CLASSIEST teacher I ever had. She would dunk us under water in the sink "the Burgess Treatment" when we got sweaty from playing softball or kickball outside and she always started class by playing the piano. I learned so much from her as a student and later teacher -which I still am. I visited her a few years ago at her house and we chatted for quite a while. Sadly, I wanted to see her again this summer on one of my bike rides but never did. We lost a great person who touched so many kids' lives. I have her spirit in me when I teach my students these days. God bless you Miss B!

51 years ago Miss Burgess was my 4th grade teacher. I remember doing a project in art class. I colored a castle on black poster board. I painstakingly colored each stone of the castle. I wrote BOO all over it because it was Halloween. Miss Burgess sat with me and helped me color it because she thought it looked unique. I won a contest with that drawing. The prize was a pair of walkie talkies. She never forgot a birthday. She had a big green cardboard cake that she kept little prizes in. We would sing happy birthday to the student celebrating and they would reach into the cake to pick a prize. Those of us that had summer birthdays were not forgotten. We sang one last song for all of us and we all picked out a prize. Mine was a dinosaur. I remember her being tall and I thought she was so pretty. Many years have passed but I never forgot her and I never will.
