Trudi Luthi, 90, of Nashua, NH died Sunday January 20, 2019 at the Hunt Community surrounded by her family.
Born April 12, 1928 in Meilen, Switzerland, she was the daughter of Walther and Martha (Fischer) Leuenberger. In 1953 Trudi emigrated to Providence, Rhode Island, to marry her childhood sweetheart Oscar Luthi, whom she had known since kindergarten in their hometown of Steckborn, Switzerland. They settled in Nashua and eventually designed and built a home on Browning Ave. where they lived for over forty years and raised their four children. They routinely returned to Switzerland to visit family and attend class reunions. After retirement, they traveled extensively together and with family throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Oscar died on August 21, 2008, after 55 happy years of marriage.
Trudi made everyone feel comfortable in her company and always knew the right words to lift our spirits. She was a talented artist who loved to paint landscapes and flowers, as well as a skilled seamstress and knitter. She delighted in her family and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and animal lover who will be sorely missed.
Trudi was a member of the First Church Nashua, UCC for sixty-five years. She was also a member of the Nashua Artists Association for many years. After Oscar’s death, Trudi became a member of the Hunt Community, where she lived for the past ten years.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-laws: Peter Luthi and his wife Suzanne, of Hudson and Christopher Luthi and his wife Hilary, of Seattle, WA; two daughters and son-in-laws: Edith Ablavsky and her husband Leonid, of Waltham, MA and Doris Garvey and her husband William Jr., of Londonderry, NH; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Margrit Meier, of Monthey, Switzerland and Martha Vogel, of Leeds, AL.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held Friday January 25th at 1:00 PM at the First Church Nashua (Shaw Chapel), 1 Concord Street, Nashua. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial donation in Trudi's memory to the Hunt Community Scholarship Fund, 10 Allds St., Nashua, NH 03060. The Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064 is in charge of arrangements. (603) 883-3401. “ONE MEMORY LIGHTS ANOTHER”.
