Harold Russell Kjellman, Jr. (affectionately known as Papa by many) of Hollis, NH, went to be with his precious Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the age of 90.
Born February 20, 1928 in Providence, RI, son of the late Harold Sr. and Ellen (Johnson) Kjellman. Predeceased by step-son Stephen Fait who is survived by his spouse. Harold is survived by his wife of 31 years, Meredith Fait Kjellman, sons Robert, Jon, and Stephen Kjellman and their spouses; step-children Peter Fait, Dorinda Bridges, David Fait, and their spouses. Also, his dear loving brother, Robert Kjellman, sister and brother-in-law Lynn and Lee Cote, many loving grandchildren and their spouses, step-grandchildren and spouses, and numerous great-grandchildren. Also, cousins, nieces, nephews, and their spouses.
Harold graduated from East Providence High School in 1945. He attended Brown University before enlisting in the US Army from which he was honorably discharged in 1947. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1951. Harold retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he had been employed for 37 years. He volunteered in prison ministry for many years in Concord, NH. He was a member of the Gideons International organization for 30 years. He was a member of Nashua Baptist Church in Nashua, NH. He loved and played many sports and still talked about being on the RI state winning basketball team in High School which played in the Tech Tourney at the famous Old Boston Garden. He was proud of and loved learning about his Swedish heritage and enjoyed connecting with relatives in Sweden and helping others discover their own genealogy. He especially loved working in his garden and feeding the birds. This dear man will be greatly missed.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held Sunday January 6, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of The Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St. Viewing will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 pm (prior to the funeral service). Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will take place at East Cemetery, Hollis, NH, in the Spring of 2019.
