Obituary

Obituary for Arline Ruth Ziner (Goldstein)

Arline R. (Goldstein) Ziner, 93, died peacefully on Dec. 22 at home with her husband of 70 years, Erwin “Pete” Ziner, by her side.

Mr. and Mrs. Ziner had celebrated that marriage milestone with family in July.

A native of Malden, Mass., Mrs. Ziner was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a generous friend. She possessed gifts of gab and humor that drew people to her side; an adventuresome spirit, and a tendency towards impromptu dancing, particularly when grandchildren were around. She was a prolific painter and watercolorist, and had a green thumb that habitually coaxed orchids into bloom.

Before her marriage, Mrs. Ziner had been a nursing floor supervisor at the (then) Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. She was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. Her cheerful and empathetic nature made her a natural nurse, and caregiver to all who needed her most.

Mr. and Mrs. Ziner, both originally from Malden, Mass., were longtime residents of Woburn, then Wayland, Massachusetts, and have been lived in Nashua for the past 20 years.

Mrs. Ziner was a former member of the League of Women Voters. She previously volunteered at Boston Symphony Hall, where she gave tours and supported the youth symphony program.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Ziner is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Bette Ziner of South Carolina; her daughter, Karen Lee Ziner of Rhode Island; her granddaughter, Beth Linn of North Carolina; her grandson, Dan Ziner of South Carolina, and Jackson Linn, her great-grandson. Her daughter, Wendy Ravech, of Needham, Mass., had preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at 225 N. Michigan Ave Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or on www.alz.org, or to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or on www.cancer.org.

SERVICES: All are welcome to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 2:00PM at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua. Rabbi Winer of Framingham, MA will be officiating.

My deepest condolences to the family. Though Betsy and I were in touch with Arline only a couple of times after she and Pete moved to Nashua, we always remembered what a wonderful across-the-steet neighbor she was. Her New Years Eve parties were exceptional. Special thoughts to Karen, whom I saw occasionally at professional gatherings. Your mother was a gracious, lovely person. Betsy, who died on Sept. 1, 2017, was a special friend of Arline's. Michael Short 265 Pelham Island Road Wayland MA 01778

Hello, I want to say I'm very sorry for the loss of your loved one. But I want to bring you hope and comfort by what the bible says will happen for everyone who passed away in death. Revelation 21:4 says how God "will wipe out every tear from our eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning or outcry or pain be anymore, the former things have passed away." So one day, Jehovah God will do away with sickness, pain, old age, and death forever. Acts 24:15 also mentions that "there will be a resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous". This means all who have died, like all my relatives and your relatives, will get a chance to live again, here on earth (Psalms 37:29). I do hope that I brought you some comfort. Jehovah's witnesses in your local area can bring you more comfort from the bible, to help you cope with whatever tragedies you may be faced with. You can visit www.jw.org if you want more comfort, or have someone visit you as well.
