Obituary for Alma "Joan" Bishop

Print
Joan Bishop, 86, passed peacefully surrounded by her children after a sudden illness. She was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter and friend, never failing to take care of those she loved. While her children were young she excelled as a full time mother. After her husband's death she split her time between family and work retiring after 20+ years from her position with Parks and Recreation for the City of Nashua.
Her faith in God sustained her throughout her life and through her death. Through her strong devotion to her faith she completed an advanced degree in Theology. She was very active in various churches over the years and traveled to Peru to do missionary work with her late husband. She also loved to sing, and was good at it, so participated in karaoke making it her personal mission to bring the word of God to others through song.
Joan had a love of adventure and fulfilled one of her biggest dreams when she took a ride in a hot air balloon. She loved to travel making her way around the country to visit friends and family or to attend various faith based activities.
However, her greatest joy came from family, whether listening to her older son play guitar and sing, trading playful banter with her youngest son, discussing current events with her older daughter, or enjoying the mountains of food prepared by her youngest daughter and grandchildren at frequent family gatherings. No matter the occasion, her infectious laughter made every moment with her a cherished memory.
She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Arnold Bishop, her parents, Charlotte and Thadde Ducharme, and her grandson Adam Johnson. She is survived by her four children Leslie Bishop Paul, Bradley Bishop, Jennifer Bishop Braun, and Bryle Bishop, 12 grandchildren ~ Brett, Sonya, Devyn, Shadow, Sebastian, Vivyan, Mia, Bradley Jr., Benjamin, Toby, Nina, and Brylelyn, 4 great grandchildren , Ivy and Aiden, and Eve and Jack, a great great granddaughter, Harper, and numerous nieces and nephews.
